Sponsorship policy
Brands can pay to appear on Grooming Nova in two clearly labeled ways. They can’t pay to change what a guide recommends. Here’s exactly where the line sits.
The short version
Paid content is labeled before you read it.
- We accept two packages: a Sponsored Post and a Sidebar Display Slot.
- Each one is labeled where you’ll see it.
- No sponsor can buy a recommendation, a better verdict, or a say in what our guides say.
- Sponsors don’t see editorial guides before they go live. In a sponsored post they can check facts about their own product, but they don’t get approval over our opinions.
Today, affiliate commissions are our main income; see the affiliate disclosure. Sponsorship helps keep Grooming Nova free to read without a paywall.
What we accept
Two packages, each with its own rule.
Sponsored Post
An article about your product or service, written by our team to our normal standards and published on Grooming Nova. It is labeled “Sponsored by [Brand]” at the top, and you can check facts about your own product before it goes live. You don’t get approval over our opinions.
- The rule
- You can check facts about your own product, but you don’t get approval over our opinions. It never ranks products.
- How it’s labeled
- “Sponsored by [Brand]” at the top of the post.
Sidebar Display Slot
Your banner in the sidebar next to our guides, labeled “Advertisement”. Runs for an agreed period.
- The rule
- The banner stays in the sidebar, outside the guide text, and never looks like part of a guide. No pop-ups, no sound and no auto-playing video.
- How it’s labeled
- Labeled “Advertisement”.
Pricing
- Quote per brief
- We price each campaign after reading your brief and send you a quote within 48 hours.
What money can’t buy
Whatever the format or the fee.
A sponsor can pay for
- A labeled sponsored post about its product or service
- A labeled banner in the sidebar, outside the guide text
- Reaching readers who care about grooming tools
A sponsor can never pay for
- A better place in a guide’s recommendations, or a better verdict for your product
- Removing, moving down or leaving out a competitor
- Approving, editing or seeing editorial guides before they go live, or approval over our opinions in a sponsored post
- A smaller, hidden or missing sponsorship label
- Affiliate links to your product inside your own sponsored content
The same rules apply to the guides themselves: see our editorial policy. If a sponsor asks for any of these, we turn the deal down.
How you can tell
You should know it’s paid before you start reading.
- Sponsored Post
- “Sponsored by [Brand]” at the top of the post.
- Sidebar Display Slot
- Labeled “Advertisement”.
Who we work with
Brands our readers would want to hear from.
We accept sponsors whose products are relevant to men in the US who shave, trim and cut their own hair at home: tools, replacement parts, and grooming and skin-care products. We turn down:
- Products and services unrelated to men’s grooming
- Products that claim to treat, cure or prevent a skin condition, hair loss or another medical problem
- Gambling, cryptocurrency and adult content
We may decline any sponsor, and a yes for one product doesn’t mean a yes for the next.
Limits
What sponsored content never includes.
- We don’t accept free products, so sponsored content never includes hands-on test results for your product
Report a missing label
If something looks paid and isn’t labeled, tell us.
Use the contact form and choose “Press, partnership, or republishing”, with the page address. Aman checks every report. If a label is missing, we add it and note the fix under our corrections policy.
Brands interested in working with us can read the advertise page.
